Several months passed. Soon, the winds changed their course. Winter was approaching. Ranchen looked at the dark, gloomy sky and said to himself, “The weather is changing. It is time for us to move to the valley.”

Every winter, people in the settlement would pack their things and move to the valley. The weather was not suitable for them. Ranchen had to relocate, too. However, he was disheartened that he would not meet his friend for several months.

He went to visit the lion and said to him, “Dear friend, I have come to say goodbye to you. I will be leaving along with everyone in four days. I will see you in summer. Thank you for listening to all my stories. I know you don’t talk but despite that I feel a connection with you. I will truly miss you.” With those words, Ranchen was ready to leave.
